River Rock Cafe Hill in Chiang Mai

"Wednesday 8th October: Great place for a break on a road trip, a bit out of the way from Chiang Mai, but if you are close by stop for the great food and drinks and the relaxing atmosphere. There are a few places not really marked on maps on this road (1096) that are great viewpoints looking out over the Mae Sa River, so keep an eye out for them. If you get the chance to pull in do it, you will get some great photo opportunities."

"The place is unique, and the view is absolutely stunning, offering an opportunity to fully enjoy the natural surroundings. I ordered fried calamari and fresh coconut, along with a traditional Thai seafood dish."

"The drive up to River Rock Hill Cafe through Mae Rim was so pleasant! We went on a Saturday morning and there was plenty of parking. Very cool and unique atmosphere and view. You can stop for pictures and a smoothie, coffee, or ice cream- or you you can have a sit down meal. Great service and every seat has a beautiful view!"

"Coming here honestly wasn't the easiest, knowing that it's extremely far from the city. However, if you come in the afternoon while there is still daylight, I think it's very much possible to get an ride, such as a Grab taxi, for your ride back down, although the waiting time may be quite a while. We waited about 15 mins to get a ride at 12 noon down. The food here is mediocre at best. What you're really paying for is the scenery and the scenic places where you are seated. The fried rice with scrambled eggs was overly drenched in butter, and the eggs were severely overcooked. We had the chicken leg Khao Soi, which was more like a watery curry dish, leaning more towards a soup. It was just okay. The Som Tum with crab had a very strong taste of the sea, which was not my cup of tea. The Thai milk tea was also very flat. Honestly, you're dining here for the Instagram-worthy photos and the vibes. The high price of the food does not reflect the taste or flavour. The service by the staff was good."
